MasterCard Gears Up To Comply With UIGEA As VISA Looks Over
MasterCard has devised a new strategy to filter all credit card transactions that go into online gambling websites. It is not the first time that MasterCard had done this exercise, but the last time it tried this exercise it ended as a failure. MasterCard has been assertive on its mode of operation and it says that it is the only way to see all transactions occurring in its network. As UIGEA law gets enforced later this year, it is imperative that credit card companies have to gear up their strategies to comply with the new law before it’s expected enforcement as soon as June, 1, 2010.
MasterCard has blocked online gambling transactions, this would mean all MasterCard owners may not be able to use their credit cards to gamble online using their credit card. Playtech casinos and other online casinos that accept European players do however accept MasterCard transactions. This comes as a blow to the online Casinos that target the US customers as they cannot provide full service to their US clients. The DOJ is using heavy handed tactics against the funds that get deposited in online gambling websites and all the transactions that deals with online gambling.
Only MasterCard has coded the credit cards to filter its usage in online gaming sites other providers like VISA are not able to filter their users due to coding problems. Hence VISA card holders may still be able to get on to online gambling websites.
